Jennifer Shin, â€‹

Prior to starting 8 Path Solutions LLC, Jennifer's talent for understanding the challenges and complexities of aligning data, technology and business gained her notoriety as a management consultant in the Private Equity, Finance, Construction, and Higher Education industries. Her past engagements range from spearheading high profile multi-million dollar projects to managing complex implementations at numerous organizations, including GE Capital, The Carlyle Group, Fortress Investment Group, and Columbia University.


Jennifer is a recognized thought leader and an IBM Big Data & Analytics Hero. Her expertise has been sought out by numerous publications, conferences and organizations including USA Today, Venture Beat, IEEE, ACM, Cornell University, Baruch College, IBM, Monster, SBA, SCORE, Hiscox Insurance, the Open Analytics Summit, and the City of New York.

Jennifer’s commitment to the field of data science is not limited to it’s application, but furthering it’s frontier. She is deeply involved in research ranging from theoretical mathematics to statistical methods in medical research. Her research has been presented at the IEEE International Conference on Big Data, the Institute of Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) at Brown University, as well as numerous industry events.

 

Jennifer is also writer for IBM Big Data & Analytics Hub, a technology expert on eHow.com, a mentor at the CUNY Center for Student Entrepreneurship and a mentor/judge in the Smart Pitch competition at Baruch College. ​In her spare time, Jennifer is a power lifter, Kung Fu Martial Artist & Administrator at the Shaolin Temple Overseas Headquarters, and a Recipe Tester for Americas Test Kitchen.

 

Jennifer earned her graduate degree in Statistics from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Columbia University and her undergraduate degree in Economics, Mathematics, & Creative Writing from Columbia University. She is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in New York City.

Dr. Stephen Chao,

   Engagement Manager & Consultant

Stephen draws upon his unique experience working in retail, healthcare, fitness, and education to breakdown and communicate complex ideas with clarity.​As the head instructor at the Shaolin Temple Overseas Headquarters, Stephen has over a decade of experience coordinating public appearances at large scale venues, including Shea Stadium, Lincoln Center, the United Nations and Madison Square Garden.

 

Stephen is a Senior Physical Therapist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Stephen received his ​Doctor of Physical Therapy​ Degree from New York University, his Bachelor's Degree from S.U.N.Y. Stonybrook and his Regents diploma from Bronx Science High School in New York City.

 

Stephen is also an Eagle Scout, a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S), a contributing writer/fitness consultant for Men's Fitness Magazine, and an accomplished Martial Artist. He has won medals from several international Kung Fu, Wushu & San Shou (Chinese Kickboxing) competitions and performed at many well publicized events, including the New York Dragon Boat Festival, New York fashion shows, and national movie premiers.
